If you’re new to joint supplements; welcome! I know it can be confusing at first, but hopefully this will help you understand the difference between Movoflex and Glucosamine Chondroitin Supplements for dog mobility.
We use all of these supplements, every day, with our nearly 15 year old senior dog.
What is Movoflex
Essentially, Movoflex is the brand name of a product, made by the company Virbac. You can read all about the products by Virbac (dog, cat, ferrets), here on their website.
Here are the ingredients in Movoflex by Virbac:

What is Glucosamine and Chondroitin
Because they are so often paired together, it’s easy to think they are one complete compound. But they are not, they are two different compounds.
There are also different forms of Glucosamine and Chondroitin so it’s important to get your vet’s opinion on the best form for your dog.
Broadly speaking, Glucosamine is the stuff harvested from the shells of shellfish while Chondroitin is the stuff harvested from animal cartilage, usually cows & pigs, sometimes sharks. They can also be man-made in labs.
What’s Better? Movoflex or Glucosamine & Chondroitin
While many mobility supplements feature forms of Glucosamine and Chondroitin in their recipe, Movoflex does not.
Because of this, all 3 offer entirely different active ingredients, and so your vet might recommend all of these for your dog.
For instance, a dog might be given Movoflex in the morning followed by Glucosamine & Chondroitin in the evening (or vice-versa).
That’s what makes Movoflex so unique! If you want more details how we use both supplements, visit our page pros & cons of every mobility supplement we use.
